Go to My computer>right
click>properties>Hardware>Device Manager
find the Universal serials bus controllers expand it, find the usb port right click on it> select disable.

USB Port can be
disabled from BIOS or Device Manager.

If it is
disabled from BIOS then go to the BIOS by pressing DEL at the startup (Most
Common, However it can change as per the desktop/Laptop) and then go the
Integrated Peripherals. There you will find the USB port. Enter on it and then
you can enable or disable from there.

If it is
disabled from device manager, go to the device manager (right click on My
Computer -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager) and there you
will find USB port. If it is disable, Red Mark on it will be there. Just right
click on it and then click on Enable.

Follow the steps
to enable USB ports:
1. Go to run in the start menu and type regedit and click ok.
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> SYSTEM --> CurrentControlSet -->
Services --> USBSTOR
3. Now right click on USBSTOR and go to Permissions and give Full Control to yourself and click OK.
4. In the right panel, right click. A New prompt will come. Select DWORD Value and rename it to Start.
5. Now double click on Start and key in Value data as 3 and click OK.
6. Quit Registry Editor.

Open the Windows
Registry ‘ Expand HKLM ‘ Expand System ‘Expand CurrentControlSet’ Expand
Services.
Scroll down to find
“USBSTOR”
Right-click on
“USBSTOR” and click on Permissions
Click on Advanced
Check box “Inherit
from parent the permission entries that apply to child objects. Include these
with entries explicitly defined here”
Click on Apply
Click on OK
Select USBSTOR and on
the right, double click on start and set the value data to 3
Value data: 3 to
enable and 4 to disable (USB Mass storage device)
Once changed the
setting in registry please go to the windows folder (C:\Windows) and then enter
into the hidden INF folder and modify the file name
Enable (USB Mass
storage device) file names – usbport.inf & usbport.PNF
Disable (USB Mass
storage device) file names – usbport.inf.disabled & usbport.PNF.disabled
(Just rename
usbport.INF.disabled and usbport.PNF.disabled to usbport.INF & usbport.PNF
respectively.)
Restart the system
for changes to get affect.
Go to computer management
window and uninstall if any USB mass storage is showing with an exclamatory
mark and then scan for hardware changes connecting the USB thumb / storage
device to complete the USB storage drivers installation.
